Our Safety Management – Your Peace of Mind

We recognise that safety on school trips is a key issue for any school or group, and a safe trip will always be our absolute priority.

Our Safety Management System was developed in conjunction with RoSPA – the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents – and covers all of the key aspects of organising a school trip.

RoSPA’s Twitter feed: @RoSPA

It covers the key aspects of organising a school or group trip, including:

  • Safety audits of accommodation
  • Safety audits of coach companies
  • 24 hour emergency assistance during your trip
  • Comprehensive travel insurance if required
  • Subsidised inspection visits

Your Financial Protection

Financial protection is also important. You need to know that the money you hand over to us is fully protected. We can assure you that it is.

The air holiday packages we offer, i.e. where we book your flights, are ATOL protected by theCivil Aviation Authority.  Our ATOL number is ATOL 10489 (School Trips Ltd.).

ABTA’s website contains a lot of advice for travellers, including when booking group travel, and the following video, recently updated, explains ‘Why book with an ABTA member’. It’s aimed at the general public, but the sentiment is the same for group travel.

School Travel Forum:

We are an Assured Member of the School Travel Forum (STF) and in booking with us you can be secure in the knowledge that we:

  • Understand and facilitate the needs of educational travel
  • Have effective Safety Management Systems in place, specifically focused on travelling with young students
  • Offer fair terms and conditions and the best financial security

To ensure our health and safety standards are maintained our systems and procedures are fully audited annually by independent experts.

STF membership is the benchmark for good school tour providers; consequently it is an Awarding Body for the prestigious Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Badge. (See below.)

The STF’s Twitter feed: @STF_Forum

The Outdoor Education Advisors Panel (OEAP) endorses the Quality Badge and requests Local Authorities to recommend the use of Badged Providers and require the minimum of additional paperwork where Quality Badge accreditation is in place.

This means that you can book your trip with confidence, meet your due diligence and reduce the amount of External Provider paperwork necessary.

Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Badge:

The School Travel Company was one of the very first organisations in the country to be awarded the Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Badge, recognising us as a provider of quality, safely managed educational experiences for young people.  The Government’s ‘Health and Safety of Learners Outside the Classroom’ consultation paper makes it very clear that “for more complex off-site visits, the Quality Badge scheme helps you use accredited providers – you needn’t risk assess what’s offered by holders of a Quality Badge.”
